See event details

A event on Friday 16th August. The event starts at 14:00.

The Freedom to Learn Forum is an annual gathering for anyone interested in freedom, autonomy and social justice in education, facilitated by Phoenix Education Trust. The Freedom to Learn Forum 2024 is 15th - 18th August 2024.

Inspired by Open Space technology, participants of all ages co-create the schedule, and participants host activities, workshops or games, and initiate discussion circles on a wide range of themes. The Open Space (or UnConference) format creates space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and creativity.

At the Freedom to Learn Forum you might find: young people fighting for their rights in education; unschooling families; people who are involved with self-directed learning communities; democratic school students or teachers; mainstream teachers who would like to explore these ideas; play and youth workers; early years practitioners; academics and many more.

Children and young people
We don't offer specific children or youth tickets, so please use the Pay What You Can ticket to choose what you feel is an appropriate price for the individuals in your family, based on your circumstances but bear in mind that the standard price is the actual cost and that this isn't a profit making event. Please note that every person who is eating a meal will need their own ticket, in order for us to plan for the meals.

Financial accessibility
We are committed to making this event as accessible as possible and therefore will be offering financial support for minimum ticket cost, travel and accommodation for anyone who needs it. We strongly encourage anyone who needs it to apply for financial support to attend the Forum by completing the short support form on our website: https://freedomtolearn.uk/index.php/what-s-on/freedom-to-learn-forum-2024
