"Sell out warning! You had us at ‘Violin and Software Abuse’! The ever inspiring Bethany Ley (of Stanlæy infamy) gifts us her gorgeous new suite of otherworldly strings and modular warbles like a long lost collab between Arvo Pärt and Daphne Oram. "

A
gig
on Tuesday 17th October. The event starts at 19:30.
In this collision of musical worlds, electronic musician and composer Bethany Ley carves out enough space and light for violin to breathe amongst influences as diverse as birdsong, musique concrète and Indonesian gamelan.
'Suite for Solo Violin and Software Abuse' was initially released on Slow Worm Records in May 2022 having been composed during the pandemic. This live performance was developed to explore diverging sonic environments traversed in the recordings compiled by Bethany and violinist Kath Roberts.
Supporting this performance is Evo Ethel (of Footfoot and Ex-Agent) with their solo performance 'Alterations for Woodwind and Bells'. Improvised meldings of tingsha and saxophone, intricately interwoven textures and harmonies sustained and looped electronically.
