Dealing with the police can be intimidating. They are the hired thugs of the rich, always standing in the way of the struggle for a better world. Their job is to prevent any meaningful, lasting radical change. Brought to you by Bristol Defendant Solidarity this session will deal with knowing your “rights”, knowing your enemy, staying confident and sticking together when faced with police bullying, hassle or attacks. We hope to share experience and knowledge and learn lessons to increase confidence and solidarity when we come up against the police. An understanding of the laws they use against us and how the police work can go a long way to avoiding trouble and arrest.
Bristol Defendant Solidarity aims to help with that! Bristol Defendant Solidarity is an independent group run by local volunteers, formed after the Stokes Croft riots in April 2011. We aim to provide effective, lasting unconditional support and solidarity to anyone arrested or imprisoned as a result of demos, riots, direct action and escalating class war. We also stand in solidarity with all people facing harassment from the state – whether that is a “random” Stop and Search on the street, or dawn raid as part of their investigations into “subversive” groups. We take a clear stand against state repression and police brutality.
Solidarity is our best defence.

The School of Activism 2.0 is a two week programme of workshops, talks and activities brought to you by Peoples Republic of Stokes Croft over the Easter holidays. The workshops are intended to be empowering experiences equipping people with the tools to challenge the status quo, contest power structures and ultimately to change the world.
We learn by doing. We make our own future.
