RAKTA
At the tail end of November last year, Rakta came to the Rough Trade Bristol live space and left it in ruins, a relentless and throbbing drone-groove bewitched our melted brains and it was in our top gigs of the year. We described them as psych-drone monoliths, and we still stand by that. We are so very excited to have them back.
Deaf Kids are an uncompromising force, a poly-rhythmic blend of noise and hardcore that twists and shatters into a psychedelic vortex, prepare to be eviscerated from the inside-out. To have them on the same bill as Rakta will be a sensory treat.
Deaf Kids are an experimental hardcore machine from São Paulo, Brazil who started in 2010 as a solo D-beat project but have since become a band and explored wider and weirder territory. ‘Configuração do Lamento’, a 2016 cassette, was re-released the following year on NEUROT (Steve Von Till of Neurosis’ label) and gained a global audience for its combo of metallic rawpunk and swirling psychedelic noise.
